Semarang: The Applied Bachelor Study Program of Spatial Planning and Land Management, Diponegoro University (UNDIP) successfully held a guest lecture on “Infrastructure Planning in Spatial Planning” on Friday, September 27, 2024. The event, which was held online via Zoom, presented an experienced resource person, Mr. Hendy Wahyu Noerhidayat, S.T., M.T., who serves as Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Service (DPUPR) of Temanggung Regency.

The event started at 08.00 WIB and lasted two hours until 10.10 WIB. The participants, most of whom were Spatial Planning and Land Management Study Program students, were very enthusiastic about attending the lecture. In his presentation, Mr. Hendy explained the importance of infrastructure planning in the context of urban and regional spatial planning and the impact of infrastructure on regional development. He emphasized that good infrastructure can support more effective and sustainable spatial planning and strengthen connectivity between regions. Participants were also invited to understand better the role of local governments in ensuring that every infrastructure project is in line with spatial planning.

This session also opened an interactive discussion, where participants asked various questions about the challenges and strategies in infrastructure planning in the modern era. Mr. Hendy Wahyu Noerhidayat, S.T., M.T., provided comprehensive answers and shared his practical experiences while serving at the DPUPR of Temanggung Regency.

This activity is part of the efforts of the UNDIP Spatial Planning and Land Management Study Program to continue to improve the quality of learning and enrich students’ insights through collaboration with professional practitioners. Guest lectures like this are expected to provide new insights and strengthen students’ understanding of the relationship between infrastructure and spatial planning.
