BOYOLALI – After undergoing an intensive survey and data analysis process, students of the Spatial Planning and Land Management Study Program (PTRP) at the Vocational School of Diponegoro University officially presented the final results of the Kemusu District Regional Profile Studio on Monday (November 24, 2025) at the Kemusu District Office, Boyolali Regency.
This presentation represents the crystallization of two years of Studio learning, during which students directly examined the physical characteristics, land use, demographics, and infrastructure of this strategic area in Boyolali Regency.
Field Findings: From Oil Wells to Eucalyptus Oil
The presentation and discussion session revealed interesting facts about Kemusu’s untapped natural resource wealth. The Kemusu District Head expressed his appreciation and provided crucial information regarding the latest field findings:
New Oil and Gas Potential: Two new oil wells have been identified in Kemusu Village, which are currently undergoing further study.
Wonoharjo Eucalyptus Oil: Wonoharjo Village produces high-quality eucalyptus oil but still faces significant challenges in market competition and access to sales channels.
Fisheries Sector: Strong potential for capture fisheries around the reservoir, as well as growing aquaculture in Wonoharjo Village, thanks to stable water flow.
Infrastructure and Public Service Challenges
In addition to potential, PTRP students also identified various spatial issues requiring immediate attention. Clean water availability was a significant concern, with villages such as Bawu, Kedungrejo, Sarimulyo, and Kemusu still heavily dependent on water drop-offs due to a lack of shallow and deep water sources.
In terms of accessibility, the road infrastructure to Wonoharjo Village is deemed in need of improvement to support connectivity. Meanwhile, in the health sector, Kemusu’s service area is not commensurate with the available facilities; residents of Kendel, Kedungmulyo, and Wonoharjo villages reportedly have to travel approximately 40 minutes to reach the only community health center.
Synergy Between Academics and Local Government
The PTRP Studio’s supervising lecturer stated that the regional profiles compiled by the students are expected to serve not only as academic requirements but also as a concrete reference for the sub-district government in formulating development policies.
“Kemusu Sub-district has significant natural resources. However, without integrated and sustainable infrastructure planning, this potential will struggle to improve community welfare significantly,” said a representative of the drafting team.
The activity concluded with a discussion on more targeted regional development directions, reflecting the strong synergy between the Undip Vocational School and the Boyolali Regency Government in implementing regional planning grounded in data and field realities.
