Semarang: The Applied Undergraduate Study Program of Spatial Planning and Land Management, Diponegoro University (UNDIP) successfully held an international guest lecture titled “Land Development Policy and Strategy for Spatial Planning,” Friday, November 1, 2024. The event, held online via Zoom, presented an experienced resource person, Mr. Dr. D.A. Ary Samsura, as an assistant professor in Planning, Land, and Real Estate Development at Radboud University. The event started at 13.00 WIB and lasted until 17.30 WIB. The participants, most of whom were Spatial Planning and Land Management Study Program students, were very enthusiastic about attending the lecture. Through the distance learning model, participants from various places can join and listen directly to the lecture from Mr. Dr. D.A. Ary Samsura.
In his presentation, Mr. Ary Samsura explained several materials, namely the definition of land policy/land development (land policy), the scope of land policy, land policy strategy, zoning, and land banks. He emphasized that good land policies can support more effective and sustainable spatial planning and strengthen connectivity between regions. Participants were also invited to understand better local governments’ role in formulating government policies by implementing three main pillars: land use, land rights, and land value.
This session also opened an interactive discussion, where participants asked various questions about the challenges in implementing land policies. Dr. D.A. Ary Samsura provided comprehensive answers and shared his practical experiences as a researcher. This activity is part of the UNDIP Spatial Planning and Land Undergraduate Study Program’s efforts to continue improving the quality of learning and enrich students’ insights through collaboration with academics at the international level. Guest lectures like this are expected to provide new insights and strengthen students’ understanding of land administration. “This is an extraordinary opportunity for us to learn from foreign lecturers,” said one of the participants. With the end of this guest lecture, participants are expected to be able to apply the insights gained in their studies and practices in the future. This lecture is one of UNDIP’s steps in preparing students to become reliable spatial planners in the future.
